Industrial shelving is ideal for storage of smaller items that are hand picked, maintenance repair parts, packaging and tools. The type of shelving used should be selected by the capacity needed:

  1. Industrial Steel Shelving – ranges in size from 12” to 36” up to 24” x 48” (other sizes by special order) and has weight capacities from 400 lbs. per shelf up through 2500 lbs. per shelf. This shelving is commonly used for small parts or items placed in parts bins. This type of shelving is normally “clipped” into the posts, so little hardware is needed and shelf adjustment is simple.
  2. The next heavy-duty shelving is Rivet or Boltless shelving. The sizes range from 12” x 12” up to 48” x 96”. Capacities range from 1000 lbs. to 3000 lbs. per shelf. Rivet shelving is normally decked with particleboard, metal or wire decking. It is ideal for larger items that are not palletized, such as sheet stock, pipe, larger boxes of inventory and paper archiving. Many companies like this type of shelving because there is no requirement for x-braces, so all for sides of the units are accessible for picking.
  3. Wide-span shelving is a lighter version of pallet racking, with upright frames instead of posts and shelves ranging from 18” x 36” up through 48” x 96”. Capacities are available up to 2500 lbs. per shelf. Wide-span is often used for sheet goods, large boxes and packing materials.
